Why is it mandatory to submit photos? What does Nikah.io do with photos?

First things first, we make photo achaar. We take your photos, add vinegar and other condiments to them, and age them to make photo achaar. Delicious photo achaar. Photo Achaar

Bhaiyon aur behno. Oops, this is for 99.99% behno! Here are a few reasons why I require photos to run this service:

  1. Match the following - I do matchmaking. Matchmaking involves matching several factors. Do you remember as a kid you had these exercises in school textbooks - match the following? Behno, yaad aaya? I have to do that - I have to match your surname, age criteria, marital status, chawl/building, height, economic status, etc.

Match the following

2) Rejection preference - What would all of us prefer: getting rejected upfront at the profile/photo exchange stage or the traditional way by arranging a meeting at home, inviting them over, preparing nashta (preparing a meal is easier in most cases), and then they stop responding to calls/messages, as if their phone 📱 has fallen into a well?

3) Visual appearance - I have come across cases wherein the moment I send pictures over to the sisters, they immediately reject the proposal(s). Some reject for facial features like the color of beard, weight, height, etc. Pictures give clarity on many things.

4) Geographical restrictions - As Nikah.io is an online service, we receive/have profiles from across India, though our core area is Mumbai. If someone reads your profile from Pune and is interested in taking it ahead, do you expect them to come all the way to your place in Mumbai only to be disappointed or make you disappointed?

How do we use your photos?

Nikah.io at all times tries to safeguard you, and that is why I at Nikah.io use an algorithm to hide your face and personally identifiable information from your profile at the time of publishing it on Nikah.io, so you can be sure about your safety.

We disclose your pictures only to relevant matches who meet your expectations (as mentioned by you in your profile). Otherwise, it will not be shown/shared with anyone.

To see live example you can access any of the men / women profiles listed on Nikah.io

How Nikah.io expect you to share pictures?

Submit 3 pictures, preferably taken by someone else (not a selfie). You can wear a hijab if you want, but your face should be visible. Please do not share a group photo. See example.
